Built for the shelves in a house.
Lektava is a catalogue for people who own books — a few hundred, or a few thousand — and want to know what they have, where it went, and who still has not brought it back.
Home libraries and collectors.
Every decision in Lektava is settled by asking whether it serves a household or an institution. Institutions get bulk administration, role hierarchies, single sign-on and per-branch everything. A house needs none of that, and every one of them would make the app worse for the people it is actually for.
The result is a product that stays small: one library you actually use, a handful of people who share it, and the books themselves as the only thing there is a lot of.
Because half a shelf is unspellable.
Most cataloguing software assumes one title in one script. That assumption breaks in any diaspora household — the shelf this app was built for runs from Middlemarch to මඩොල් දූව and back, and the software could represent exactly one of them. Yours might run to 雪国, or الأيام, or गोदान. Lektava keeps every book's title in the script it was printed in, with the original title beside a translation, so a search finds the book by whichever one you happened to think of.
What people ask first.
- What does Pro add to Free?
- Free includes 50 books and 50 MiB of retained images. Planned Pro is $60/year before buyer sales tax, with 10,000 books, 10 GiB and all released premium features. Pro and bundles are not open for purchase yet. Both resources are pooled independently across libraries you own. Free allows one library and two members including you; Pro allows unlimited libraries and eight members per library including you.
- What happens when I reach a limit?
- Book capacity and retained image storage have separate limits. Reaching either blocks additions that need that resource, without deleting or hiding your existing catalogue. Library, member and active-loan limits also apply separately. The per-file upload safety limit is 2 MiB on Free and 10 MiB on Pro; it does not determine your total storage allowance.
- Can I add capacity to Pro?
- Planned optional Pro bundles are $12/year for 5,000 more books and 2 GiB, or $25/year for 5 GiB without more books. Both stack and renew with Pro. They do not add members, libraries or features. Purchases are explicit, with no automatic overage billing. Bundles are not open for purchase yet. A bundle added partway through a year costs only the time left, and up to $10 of that can go on your next renewal if you agree.
- Can I get my data out?
- Always, completely, on every plan including the free one. Every book, note, loan and review. If you spend two months cataloguing eight hundred books, that catalogue is yours and it leaves with you.
- Is there a trial?
- Free lets you try the core product for as long as you like. Eligible Free accounts can also start a one-time, card-free 14-day Pro trial from billing. It does not renew automatically. When it ends, Free limits apply and your catalogue stays visible, editable and exportable. Paid capacity bundles are separate.
- Who can see my library?
- Nobody, until you say so. A library is private to you and the people you invite. Every library can also have a public page if you want one — a plain, readable list you can send to somebody — and that page is free on every plan.
- Is this for a school or a public library?
- No, and deliberately not. No column-mapping import wizard, no bulk administration, no single sign-on, no branches. Sharing is household-sized: you choose what each person you invite can do, and that is all. Saying no to the rest is what keeps the product small enough to be pleasant.
